PRACTICAL, REALITY BASED

Self-Defence

Our mission is to empower young people and adults with the 3 key skills to personal safety and self-defence.
We work closely with the Police and self-defence is the first thing we teach all our students.

D1: Detection

We teach our students to detect danger in their environments.

D2: Defuse

We educate our students to deescalate situations that may spiral out of control.

D3: Defend

Students are taught how to physically defend themselves in manner that is morally, ethically and legally compliant.

Sport

Our students have the opportunity to compete in various types of competitions.

Competition acts as a means of testing techniques in a pressurised enviroment against people with different styles and techniques. It is one thing to perform a technique on an opponent who offers no real resistance, it is quite another to be able to make it work under severe pressure. It can only be a positive learning experience for students to find out how they react under pressure and which techniques you come to rely on, as well as being a great deal of fun.

Jujutsu is regarded as the ‘mother’ of the martial arts. We teach a combination of striking, grappling and ground techniques. Students are taught decision making skills that will allow them to choose appropriate skills to deal with any given situation.

Sensei Andy Privett

Senior Instructor

Andy is a fully qualified PE teacher who has taught PE, sport & martial arts in schools around Gloucestershire. He holds a 5 th degree black belt in Ju Jutsu and is higher graded in Judo. To date, he has had the pleasure of training thousands of students over a 30-year period.

Andy is also the founder of ‘Streetwise365’ which teaches personal safety to schools & colleges around the UK.

Sensei Al Mountford

Instructor

Al is an experienced member of the coaching team and leads many of the lessons.

He has spent most of this life in martial arts and holds a 2nd-degree black belt in Jujutsu.

Driven by his passion to make young people safer, Al is technically excellent and highly motivated.

Sensei Wesley Caine

Instructor

Better known as ‘Big Wes’ to the students, Wes has recently started as a full-time member of our coaching team.

Wes is extremely patient & understanding with all the students, especially the younger ones.

Hayley Privett

Club Administrator

Hayley handles all the administration tasks at the club. Hayley has an NNEB qualification and has worked in schools for over 14 years
